The Maui County Council is a nine-member legislative body of officials who are elected on at-large basis (i.e., all County voters can cast votes for all nine seats), one each from nine residency areas. Each Council member is elected for a two-year term.

State legislators visit Maui for “Lawmakers Listen” outreach

Leadership from the State House of Representatives, including chairs of various committees, will be available to the public at an event tomorrow dubbed “Lawmakers Listen” starting at 5:30 p.m. at Pomaikai Elementary School in Kahului.

Speaker of the House Joseph Souki of Maui will be present, along with Vice-Speaker John Mizuno and Majority Leader Scott Saiki (both of Oahu), Maui County Representatives Justin Woodson, Angus McKelvey and Mele Carroll, and several other legislators from around the state.

Lawmakers Listen - State House of Reps

Lawmakers Listen provides an opportunity for constituents to have a face-to-face discussion on important State issues. The opening of the 2014 State Legislative Session is scheduled for Jan. 15.
