The following statement was issued by Councilmember Michael Victorino shortly after a press conference held at the Office of the Mayor:

I would like to extend my most heartfelt sympathies to the families of the two Planning Department staff who passed away in the recent plane crash on Lanai. Mahalo to their families who supported these fine employees as they served our community.

I also want to acknowledge the heroic acts of the Deputy Corporation Counsel, who reportedly saved the lives of two other County staffers.

I wish the injured a speedy recovery and may God bless all of the families and loved ones of those involved during this difficult time.
