On December 5, 2011 South Maui finally broke ground on the new Kihei Police Station, located just off of Piilani Highway, on the east side near Kanani Road. The Kihei Police station is said to have moved from office to office five times, and finally, they have a permanent home. Expected time of completion is July of 2013.

County Officials break ground

Among the dignitaries breaking ground are First Assistant to the Managing Director David Ching, Maui Police Chief Gary Yabuta, Mayor Alan Arakawa, Managing Director Keith Regan and County Councilman Joe Pontanilla.

The County of Maui has pushed for the completion of the necessary paperwork and steps to finally initiate this project. A permanent police station will enable our officers to respond faster and serve the community better.
