The County Of Maui Periodic Motor Vehicle Inspection Office is located at the County of Maui Service Center, Maui Mall Shopping Center, 70 East Kaahumanu Avenue. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Motor Vehicle Safety Inspection
Vehicle safety inspections may be obtained at authorized service stations and vehicle repair shops. With the exception of certain commercial vehicles, most privately owned vehicles are issued a safety inspection certificate that is valid for one year. The following documents must be presented to the safety check inspector:
  • Vehicle registration
  • Insurance identification cars

Disabled Parking Permits
Disabled parking permits for permanently or temporarily disabled persons.

Applications for permanent or temporary disabled parking permits are available at all County of Maui driver's licensing offices.

Completed applications must be submitted in person to the disabled parking permit office located at:
County of Maui Service Center,
Maui Mall Shopping Center,
70 East Kaahumanu Avenue
You will be required to provide proper identification.

To renew your permanent disabled parking permit, an application must be submitted indicating any changes in personal information. The physician's portion of the renewal application needs to be completed by a physician again. Your expired parking placard and identification card must be surrendered at time of renewal.

To renew your temporary disabled parking permit, a fully completed application must be submitted. Your expired parking placard and identification card must be surrendered at time of renewal.

Disabled parking permits issued by other states are honored in the state of Hawaii.
