Renewal of Class 2 & 3 Driver's License
Renew Your License
It is the responsibility of all drivers to renew their driver's license prior to the expiration date. You may renew your Hawaii driver's license at any driver's licensing office within six months prior to the expiration date.

The following list the requirements to renew your Hawaii driver's license at all county of Maui driver licensing offices:

  • Complete a driver's license renewal application that is available at all driver licensing offices
  • Pass the required vision exam
  • Payment of the appropriate fees
  • If you have outstanding traffic violations you will be required to submit a clearance letter from the traffic violations bureau

If you are temporarily out of the state you may renew your driver's license by mail. Please refer to the renewal by mail information section.


HRS ยง286-107 License renewals Procedures and Requirements
(h) Notwithstanding subsection (a), any applicant for a renewal of a driver's license who is a member of any component of the United States armed forces and who is on active federal service outside of the State at the time the applicant's license should be renewed, may file an application for a renewal of the driver's license, which shall be accompanied by verification of federal active service outside the State as required by the examiner of drivers, within ninety days of the applicant's return to the State or discharge from hospitalization. The examiner of drivers may waive the reactivation fee otherwise required by section 286-107.5.
