Molokai Community Plan Update 2012
The Molokai Community Plan Update will update the existing 2001 Molokai Community Plan
adding new elements as required by MCC 2.80B
and taking direction from the Countywide Policy Plan
. The Planning Department's Long Range Division will conduct community engagement events through 2010 and 2011 in order to gather broad public input. The updated Moloka'i Community Plan will consist of a vision statement, goals, objectives, policies and implementing actions that portray the desired direction of the island's future, as well as an action plan for implementation. In addition to results from the community engagement events, technical studies and issue papers will provide data in support of policy recommendations.
The community engagement and data collection phases of the update are currently underway and scheduled to continue through the end of 2010, followed by Community Plan Advisory Committee meetings (6 months), review by the Molokai Planning Commission
(6 months), and final review and adoption by the Maui County Council (up to one year).
An open house was held on June 26, 2010
. The next two events are scheduled for October 2 and October 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m
. at Mitchell Pau'ole Center in Kaunakakai.
Community Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC)
Once the community engagement phase is completed, the County Council will issue a notice requesting interested parties to submit applications for the CPAC, along with instructions regarding the application procedure.
