Certification Exam
Overview
On every licensed premises, an on-duty employee approved by the director must be in active charge during all times that such premises is open for business.  The employee must:
  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Have successfully completed an examination and education session administered by the Department on liquor laws and rules of the commission

All certificates are valid for four years from the date of issue and must be renewed by re-examination.

Types of Exam
  • General Dispenser (50 questions) - good for classes 2, 4 through 14
  • Retail (30 questions) - good only for class 4
  • Wholesale (50 questions) - good only in classes 1 and 3

Items Needed for Registration
The following items are required for registration:
  • Government issued photo identification (unexpired and undamaged)
  • Fee of $10
Registration is on a first come, first served basis until the room is full or the end of the registration period. Upon passing the exam, a $10 certification card fee will be collected and a mandatory education session will take place.
